Regency Fireplace Products has placed a recall on two units, the U37 and U39 gas stoves.

Regency received reports of two units which experienced delayed ignitions. This is believed to have caused the glass doors of the unit to fracture resulting in glass fragments being expelled forward. Both of these incidents occurred in Canada and Regency believes they were due to improper installation. In an abundance of caution, Regency Fireplace Products has taken the position to manufacture a retrofit kit that will prevent any further occurrences. The incidents were investigated by U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada and the retrofit kits tested and approved to be installed on the units that are already in customer’s homes.

Anderson Propane has notified and registered all customers who have purchased one of the units from Anderson Hearth and Home and who have verified all the required information.

If you have one of these units and haven’t already spoken with our staff, please discontinue all use immediately by turning the pilot light off and terminating the supply of gas.  For Anderson Propane customers, if you need immediate assistance regarding the termination of gas, please contact our office, (540) 373-9096.  We will also need the serial number from the unit installed contact information in order to receive a retrofit kit for your unit.  If you need help obtaining your serial number, please contact us.

If you are not an Anderson Propane customer, but have one of these units, please call your propane or natural gas provider for assistance regarding the termination of gas.

Regency is ramping up production of these kits and as we receive our allotment, we will be calling our customers to schedule the free service call to install the retrofit kit.  Regency is allocating kits based on the quantity of registered units. A unit is considered registered when Regency has full customer information associated to a given serial number.

We understand the impact that this product advisory has on our customers, especially those who rely on this unit for heating.
